About Me

I am a freelance writer for hire; be sure to check out my list of current projects to see some examples of my recent work. For my "day job," I work as a talent specialist at a local corporate entity, where I organize job fairs, write proposals, maintain e-learning and employee incentive systems, and record restaurant announcements.

I'm also a volunteer religious education teacher at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, where 4th & 5th graders surprise me every week by helping me discover and explore a little more about the universe, philosophy, and basic human principles.

My biggest passion, however, is for my family. I am a new Alley, married in June of 2011 to my awesome geek of a husband, Thomas. We live on the best side of the tracks in Powell, Tennessee, with our beautiful autistic daughter, Aisling; our devoted cat, Pantoufle; and our goofy puppy, Pippin. We spend our days blending deep conversations with video game quotations and absurdity, and I can't imagine a life happier than the one I'm living right now.

I'm obsessed with US Route 11, adore the Gopher Protocol, enjoy playing the retro version of the Apple IIc Lemonade Stand on my iPhone, own a large collection of striped toe-socks, and love Doctor Who. I ran the April 2011 half-marathon in Knoxville with my running buddy Stacy Hacker, but I've fallen off the bandwagon a bit since then.

If you should like to contact me, I can be reached via email at devonkoren at gmail dot com. I am also completely obsessed with Twitter, should you want to touch base with me there: http://www.twitter.com/dkoren.
